I was prescribed Desyrel for insomnia and anxiety. How long does it take to start working?

Desyrel usually starts to have a sedative effect within 30–60 minutes after taking it, which is why it's often prescribed at bedtime. However, for anxiety and depression, it may take 1–2 weeks to notice initial improvements and up to 4–6 weeks for full therapeutic effects. If you don’t see any improvement after a few weeks, consult your doctor for possible dose adjustments.
